Amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, many consumers are tightening their belts, buying cheaper brands and choosing discount retailers.
As a result of these cost-cutting measures, Aldi and Lidl have been climbing up the supermarket share charts, edging closer to the UK’s big four supermarkets.
An article in Grocery Gazette reveals that Aldi and Lidl have claimed a combined market share of 16% in the 12-week period to 10th July.
With shoppers looking for more ways to cut costs, Lidl is the fastest-growing supermarket for the fifth time in a row and Aldi’s market share is now just shy of Morrisons’.
